Ellen Lau is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and founder of Zen Financial Planning, which recently joined forces with Pantheon Wealth Planning. She is passionate about helping people make sound financial decisions. She takes the time to understand each client’s financial and life goals, and provides objective advice tailored to their unique needs. Over many years working with loyal clients, Ellen has developed valued relationships with them, and she takes a keen interest in their financial well-being.
Ellen holds an MBA from the University of Maryland and a BBA degree from National Taiwan University. She also earned a Personal Financial Planning diploma from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Ellen worked 20 years as a project manager helping companies implementing financial and accounting systems in her first career. She held management positions at Ernest & Young, Freddie Mac, Wyse Technology and Electronic Data Systems (EDS, now HP Enterprise Services). Ellen was also an instructor of financial planning from 2014 to 2018 at the University of California, Santa Cruz Extension.
Ellen is devoted to her community and humanity. She has served many community organizations including Girl Scouts of Santa Clara County, her high school alumni association, TFGHAA-NC, and the Leadership Council of the American Cancer Society’s California Chinese Unit. She orchestrated bringing “money basics” seminars to local high schools in Silicon Valley and has spent time speaking to various non-profit organizations. She has also served as the co-president of Chi Am Circle, an Asian American women’s non-profit organization, where she is still very active in various capacities.
Ellen’s caring nature extends beyond people to encompass man’s best friend. Her latest endeavor is to volunteer for the organization to rescue homeless dogs in Taiwan and help them find safe homes that every dog deserves.
